Project Engineer, Life Cycle Engineering


This role will support OMC Research and Development (R&D) and Technical Service activities through physical, optical, and thermal property analysis of optical materials as well as hands-on laboratory experimentation for the development and commercialization of new optical materials. 

Additional responsibilities will include: 
  • Solving technical problems through the application of appropriate scientific, experimental, and statistical methods. 
  • Coordinating and executing analyses of optical materials, prioritizing experimental workflows, and drafting and communicating technical reports across multiple projects.
  • Documenting and reporting data, providing both data interpretation and consulting services where needed.
  • Serving as an expert resource for OMC colleagues in the use of testing equipment and techniques (may be required to assess and/or develop new techniques to expand testing capabilities).
  • Conducting laboratory work to accelerate new product development and introduction to customers, including formulation and testing of new optical materials and/or coatings.
  • Product optimization, process development, and qualification testing for prospective customers.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or a relevant technical field, such as Physics, Materials Science, Polymer Science, or an Engineering discipline with a strong background in chemistry.
  • Proven ability to conduct innovative and independent research.
  • Experience documenting and communicating analytical and/or performance testing results via detailed technical reports.
  • Laboratory experience in an industrial R&D environment, including the design and execution of laboratory experiments, is preferred.
  • Analytical testing experience, including the maintenance of testing equipment, is preferred.
